Member Application Forms
Eligibility of Members
The following persons are eligible for the respective groups of membership:
Group A: Full Members
b) Persons who have an interest in the fields of Consumer Science, Consumer Studies and Home
Economics who may benefit from the interaction with these disciplines and related fields.
c) Postgraduate students earning a fixed income qualify as Full members.
Group B: Student Members
other relevant academic institution.
b) Any international student who is following a recognized course in the fields specified in (a) at a
recognized university or other relevant academic institution.
c) Any international or national student who has an interest in the field of Consumer Science and who
may benefit from the interaction within the different sub-disciplines of Consumer Science.
d) Postgraduate students who are fulltime students not earning a fixed income may qualify as Student
members.
Group C: Honorary Members
after consideration of curriculum vitae by the Executive Committee and after acceptance by EXCO at the
Biennial General Meeting, be invited to become an Honorary Member of SAAFECS.
What is new?
WIL Indaba: University of Zululand: 18 - 20 September 2024
We are pleased to invite you to the inaugural WIL Indaba, hosted by the University of Zululand's Departments of Recreation and Tourism, alongside the Department of Consumer Science. This significant event will take place from September 18th to 20th, 2024, and will bring together academics, industry leaders, government representatives, civil society, and students to explore the intricacies of Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) and to develop a cohesive WIL framework.
The WIL Indaba addresses the ongoing misalignment between academia and industry. This essential dialogue aims to align industry expectations with academic instruction and ensure that funding for WIL initiatives is utilized effectively and diligently.

2024 Nutrition congress
